The ferroresonant technology makes CVTs perfect for driving Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS). They provide waveform shoulder-lifting, which helps reduce input surges, prolongs the life of the connected equipment, and lengthens conduction times.

Harmonic Buffering and Micro-Break Protection

CVTs also act as harmonic buffers, stabilizing the supply and improving capacitor hold-up during short supply interruptions, which are common due to grid switching or protection systems.

How CVTs Work

We manufacture CVTs that use a tank circuit composed of a high-voltage resonant winding and a capacitor. This setup produces a nearly constant average output voltage, even when the input varies. The ferroresonant approach is attractive because it requires no active components, relying instead on the square-loop saturation characteristics of the tank circuit to absorb variations in the input voltage and deliver a smooth, stable output.
