Why Your Facility Needs an Isolation Transformer

Indian power lines carry more than just voltage. Spikes, harmonics, RFI noise, transients, and ground loops travel straight into your equipment through the mains. An isolation transformer stops all of it at the input.

Line Noise Destroys Sensitive Equipment

How an Isolation Transformer Works

An isolation transformer transfers electrical power from the supply to the load using only magnetic coupling. There is no direct electrical connection between the input and the output at any point. This is what makes it fundamentally different from a standard transformer.

AC Power Enters the Primary Winding

The incoming AC supply energises the primary winding. Spikes, surges, and noise are present on this side. They do not pass through to the secondary.

Magnetic Field Transfers Energy

The primary winding creates a changing magnetic field in the CRGO silicon steel core. This field induces a voltage in the secondary winding without any electrical connection between the two sides.

Galvanic Isolation Blocks Noise

Because there is no conductive path, spikes, transients, RFI noise, and ground loops cannot cross from the primary to the secondary. Faraday shields in ultra isolation versions block even capacitive coupling.

What is the difference between an isolation transformer and a normal transformer?
A normal transformer shares a common ground between the primary and secondary. An isolation transformer has no electrical connection between the two sides at all, only magnetic coupling. This gives you noise suppression, ground loop elimination, and shock protection that a regular transformer cannot.
Are Purevolt isolation transformers UL approved?
Yes. Our isolation transformers are manufactured to UL standards. We are also ISO 9001 certified and NABL tested. SONCAP certification is available for units going to African markets.
What is an ultra isolation transformer and when do I need one?
It is a special version with multiple Faraday shields between the primary and secondary windings. Leakage current drops to the nanoampere level. You need this for medical equipment, sensitive lab instruments, and computing systems where even very small electrical leakage causes problems.
What is the maximum KVA you can manufacture?
We regularly manufacture up to 1000 KVA in both single phase and three phase. Higher ratings are available on request. Just send us your requirement and we will advise.
Can these be used outdoors?
Yes. We build IP56 rated enclosed units for outdoor installation. Oil cooled versions are also available for high ambient temperature or extreme environment applications.
What warranty comes with the transformers?
Minimum 2 years on all units. Purevolt builds for long service life and the maintenance requirement under normal operating conditions is very low.
