Type of
Online UPS

We at Purevolt provide our customers with a minimum UPS price in India, which allows them to easily afford the service without having to worry about their budgets. It is also known as an uninterruptible power supply online (UPS). As the name indicates, the power in the appliances remains unchanged during a power outage. Therefore, the appliances will continue to function normally. Since there is no switch over time during load shedding, online UPS systems are recommended for use with critical appliances and devices like ultrasound machines, ATMs, banks, etc. load shedding. There are primarily three types of online UPS systems:

  •  Single Phase In - Single Phase-Out
  •  Three Phase In - Single Phase-Out
  •  Three Phase In - Three Phase-Out

As a result, you can select the Online UPS according to the application's needs and its electric connection. Our Online UPS are available in capacities ranging from 1KVA to 500KVA. You can also choose the correct UPS capacity based on the power requirements of your devices and applications.

FAQs Related to
Online UPS

Difference between Online UPS and Offline UPS?

Offline UPSs provide direct AC mains power to the load if the mains supply is present. When there are insufficient power supplies, it immediately switches to the inverter to provide power until the main supply is restored. Off-line UPS power supplies are ideal for normal operation since they do not monitor incoming voltage and are therefore not convenient for all networking systems.

Online UPS are different from Offline UPS in that their inverters are always connected to the battery, thereby avoiding the need for a power switch. The inverter automatically disconnects from the circuit in the event of a power failure, ensuring that the battery maintains an uninterrupted supply of power. In the event of a power outage, the inverter kicks in and continues supplying power and charging the battery.

What is the process of online UPS?

A UPS, or uninterruptible power supply, is an electrical device that provides emergency power to a load in the event that the mains power is unavailable. Typically, an online UPS device is one in which the output of the UPS is always providing current to the load. Despite its ageing and low cost, this UPS system only adjusts its output to match the load when the main power fails. This results in a momentary spike that can slow down computers and limit their functionality. As a result, with an online UPS system, the batteries are continuously charged by the mains, and the UPS output is generated by the batteries. Therefore, if the power fails, there is no interruption to the electricity supply. Additionally, such a system offers additional protection against short circuits and voltage shedding on the main line.

Applications of Online UPS

Private hospitals and clinics | Research Centers and Laboratories | Industrial Processes | Computers, Data Centers, Server Rooms and Search Data Centers | Network Operations Centers and Telecommunication Networks | Commercial facilities with expensive equipment and sensitive household equipment

Working Principal of Online UPS

Online UPSs are typically powered by a ‘double-conversion’ method that consists of receiving AC input, rectifying to DC for passing through the rechargeable battery (or strings of batteries), then reverting back to 120 V/230 V AC for delivering power to protected appliances. During events such as blackouts, voltage surges, voltage sags or overvoltages, online UPS supplies power. UPSs provide consistent, clean, and near-ideal power, regardless of the energy source. The UPS converts AC power into DC and then back to AC power.

Components of Online UPS System

Battery Charger and Rectifier, Inverter, Static Transfer Switch, Logic & Control System, Battery Bank, Diagnostics & Communication Units. The medium and large capacity online UPS systems require a significant amount of power semiconductors, including GTOs, MCTs, MOSFETs, and Darlington pairs. The large and medium Online UPSs handle extensive voltages and currents, therefore they are mounted on specially designed heatsinks. In the rectifier blocks and inverter, this UPS acts as a control element.
